Operational platforms
The system your business actually runs on. Custom-built around how you operate, not the other way round.
The version of your operations you can't quite reach. We've spent over a decade building exactly that.

Executives name AI first, but most of the 2026 budget is going to modernisation, integration and compliance - the foundations AI actually depends on. These are the seven areas we build for, ordered by where boards are spending.

Most engineers build what they're handed. I work the other way round: I go in, audit how the operation actually runs, then design the system around how the business needs to work - not just the software, the operational thinking behind it. That's what sets me apart from most studios. I design and engineer it personally, founder direct from start to finish, with a trusted network of senior specialists for larger or faster work.
15+ years of software engineering, from startups to global brands. Operations-first, code second.
Businesses rarely fail to build solutions. They build good solutions to the wrong problem. Every BY BANKS engagement starts with diagnosis - what is actually broken, and where the constraint really sits - before a line of code is written.

Whether the brief describes the disease or the symptom is a question we answer first. Reframing a problem is usually worth more than any feature built against the wrong one.
Reports summarise. Operations reveal. We watch the process run at the source - the warehouse, the site office, the shop floor - before proposing a system to run it.
Research shows the hardest problems are usually cracked by someone from outside the field. 29 industries gives us a library of solved problems, ready to transfer into yours.
Discovery runs 2-4 weeks and produces a working prototype and a build-ready blueprint. You see the thing before you commit to the thing.
Complex operations with a lot of moving parts. The more tangled it looks, the better - a favourite line from our meetings is "you've got the perfect amount of chaos for us to come in and sort out." That's where we're strongest: businesses where nothing quite talks to anything else and the whole thing needs joining up properly.
Genuinely end to end. Take a developer in construction: we'd build the promotional website, the backend system that powers the entire operation, the booking system, the field apps for site teams - the lot, working as one. If your operation has deep, complex, moving parts, that's exactly the kind of work we take on.
Yes, and it's some of our best work. We build the tech behind critical compliance and controls: statutory certification tracking, audit trails that stand up to scrutiny, sealed and governed processes. When getting it wrong means a failed audit or an illegal operation, that's precisely when you want senior engineering rather than a junior team learning on your systems.
You work directly with the person building your software. No account managers, no junior developers on your budget, no handoffs between a sales team and a delivery team who never speak. The person who scopes it is the person who builds it - senior judgment from the first conversation to the last deploy.
Most engagements start with a paid discovery. We go in, audit how the operation actually runs, then design the system around how the business needs to work. From there it's milestone-based delivery with working software in front of you regularly, not a black box you wait six months for.
Yes. We work with formal procurement, including through prime contractors on larger programmes, and we're comfortable with the documentation, security and commercial requirements of enterprise and public-sector work. If you have a procurement process, we'll fit it.
Custom code, not page builders or WordPress. Typically PHP or Node with PostgreSQL, and Nuxt or Vue on the front end, on modern infrastructure. We self-host fonts and avoid unnecessary third-party dependencies, so what we build is fast, owned by you, and not tied to someone else's platform.
A fair question, and the honest answer is the opposite. You get more senior attention, not less, with none of the diffusion of responsibility you get in a big team. For larger or faster work we bring in a trusted network of senior specialists we've worked with for years, so capacity scales without dropping the quality bar. You always know who's accountable.
Yes. The work on this page is anonymised, but on a call we can go through the real builds in detail - the problems, the decisions, what we would do differently. It is the fastest way to judge whether we are right for your project. Book a call.
